English IV
Last Monday to Wednesday, we
had our scouting (BPS) held at Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School, one of the
oldest school here at Baguio City. We first have our orientation before
proceeding to our activities. After the orientation, we were grouped and have
our group name “Hito” because
we need to base our name from sea creatures. Each group are task to make their
own cheer and yell, we team Hito gathered lot of lyrics and tunes to come up
with a good song composition. Now, it is time for us to present our cheer and
yell, we were the fourth presenter among the 13 groups. Somehow we had our
practice but still, it’s not enough for us to really
master the lyrics of our song and the action. As one of the member of our
group, I need to do all the actions for us to win. Luckily, our wish was
granted, we were one of the groups that were given red ribbon. Congratulation
to us!
Week 5
September 8-12, 2014
“Team Hito”
I. My Accomplishment
|
II. My Significant
Experience
Another task that was given
to us during the scouting was to design our area which is our designated
corner. Honestly I hate designing things. But still, I need to contribute some
effort to make our area creative so I was challenge and motivated to make any
designs because of this activity. It was a nice experience to me because it
enhanced m psychomotor skills.
III. My
Insights
One of the scouters is an 85
years old man. He was already a grandfather but I was amazed by him because
even though he is already a senior and a veteran, still his energy was on the
highest level. He is a jolly and a comedian grandfather. He was the song bird
of all scouters. He was the “song bird”
of all the scouters He taught as many songs. Below was one of the songs that
captivated me.
If you are happy
If you are happy and you know it
Clap your hands (2x)
If you’re happy and you know it
Then your life will surely
SHOW IT
If you are happy, and you know it
·
Nod your head
·
Stump your foot
·
Say “hello”
·
Do them all
|
Furthermore, I learned such important things which were the
following:
·
How to perform first aid
particularly to burns and wounds
·
How to read compass (The sun
is at the east in the morning while at the west in the afternoon.)
·
How to read compass
·
How to measure heights
·
How to fold a flag
·
The different steps to tie
and untie rope
IV. Problems
During the orientation, I’m very sleepy; I want to lean on my chair to sleep for 5
minutes. There were so many speakers and their power point presentation were
brief, they were not simplified and outlined which tend us not to listen to
them. Another thing was, we cannot see the letterings, and we cannot really
read that information shown to us. What am I going to do to avoid being sleepy?
V. Solution
What I have done was I tried
to take down some key points from their discussion. Afterwards, I tried to do
my lesson planning little by little while the orientation was going on. Maybe
it’s not a good thing for me to do but I really need to
kill the time for me not to fall asleep, so still it is a good thing to do
rather than to fall asleep in front of the lecturer.
VI. My Goals
for Next Week
For three days of scouting,
executions of our lesson plan at Baguio City National High School were delayed
so I need to double my time in executing 4 lessons next week. I hope I can do
it. I need to do my best as possible as I can.
